Michael McGuire turned 21-years-old this summer. But in reality, the Virginia racing Phenom has been living in an adult world for a long time.
Even before he was a teenager, McGuire had record-setting results racing against adults in full size stock cars at a variety of tracks in Virginia and North Carolina. At the age of 12, he became the youngest driver in motorsports history to win a Late Model and Limited Late Model feature race. A year later, he was NASCAR's youngest Limited Late Model track champion when he hoisted the season-ending trophy at Orange County Speedway in North Carolina. He followed up that history-making moment by becoming the only 14-year-old in NASCAR's illustrious history to win Division 1 and Division 2 features.
McGuire has learned some very difficult adult lessons along the way, as well. He understands that his successes and the large amount of history he has written only mean so much. Unlike college athletes or rookies in other professional leagues, a driver like Michael needs more than an ability to win and a solid character to compete on NASCAR's biggest stage.

From the time he first wheeled a go-kart at speeds of 60 miles per hour as a kindergartener, it was apparent that Michael McGuire was born to race. The young speedster started his racing career at the tender age of five in 2001 and during his highly successful go-kart racing career he won over 75 feature events at ten different race tracks.
Michael moved up to modified stock cars in 2008 at age 11 and won races at Franklin County Speedway competing against men three times his age with decades of experience. He continued to climb the racing ladder in 2009 when he began his Limited Late Model campaign. He won five races and the division crown at Orange County Speedway in Rougemont, North Carolina. He never finished outside of the top three the entire season.
By the time he turned 12, he was setting new records. Michael became the youngest Late Model stock car winner in history and he wasted no time breaking another record by winning the Orange County Speedway Limited Late Model stock car championship shortly after turning 13.
The 2010 season continued to be record-setting, when Michael became the youngest and only 14-year-old driver in NASCAR history to win a division 2 feature event in the United States and abroad.
Division 1 is the featured top class at all NASCAR weekly racing series tracks worldwide. In 2011, NASCAR approved Michael, at age 14, to compete at this level. Again, Michael etched his name into the NASCAR record books by becoming the only 14-year-old ever to find victory lane at this level.
Michael continued his record setting success after receiving NASCAR approval at 15-years-old to compete in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series. This approval allowed him to make his series debut at Bristol Motor Speedway where he qualified 4th and finished 8th in his very first race. That day he qualified and finished ahead of current Sprint Cup Series driver Kyle Larson and 2014 Nationwide Series champion, Chase Elliott. Michael's first five races on National Touring Series tracks resulted in one Top 5 and four Top 10 finishes. In his fourth series start, the 16-year-old driver won the pole position setting a new K&N Pro Series track record at Bristol Motor Speedway. The young driver had to settle for a fourth place finish after he was spun from behind by a lapped car while slowing for a caution leading the event.
Michael's participation and additional accomplishments in the K&N Series have been limited by a lack of finances from the small family-owned team.
